Entry Requirements:

An officer at this level shall report to Senior Assistant Commandant

Duties and responsibilities

  • Overseeing the implementation of existing Kenya Forest Service policies relation to Forest Protection and enforcement in the Region.
  • Offer support and synergy with conservators in the implementation of forest programs, vision and mission, fire management, community forest association and scouts training and compliance to forest produce extraction in the Forest.
  • Preparation and implementation of strategic plan, work plans, operations, budget, performance contract, staff appraisal, as well other required reports
  • Redeploying Rangers, corporals and sergeants within the region on need basis.
  • Coordination and conducting forest protection and security operations
  • Preparing work plans, budgets, implement performance contracts, staff performance appraisal and prepare progress reports.
  • Administering discipline and welfare of protection and Security officers.
  • Coordinating and conducting forest fire fighting, disaster management activities, security of service installations, property, personnel and movable assets
  • Coordinating and facilitating maintenance of housing for Rangers.
  • Coordinating, collection, analysis and dissemination of information/intelligence.
  • Liaising with other security agencies, and local administration for purpose of Forest law enforcement.
  • Exercise delegated functions of command and control within the rank and file.
  • Performs the functions of an Adjutant at Headquarters
  • Leading intelligence lead operations at Regional Level
  • Spearheading conflict resolution, facilitate forest security operation and Forest Land reclamation.
  • Coordinating and conducting investigations and prosecution relating to forest protection.
  • Presides over Forest security meetings within the conservancy
  • Maintaining database on forest crime.
  • Coordinating and participate in National events; parades, elections, examinations, and thanksgiving prayers.
  • Ensuring safety of weapons and equipment.
  • Ensuring safety of exhibits in area of jurisdiction
  • Preparing and timely submitting of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Planning and coordinate capacity building of protection and Security Officers.
  • Promoting chapter six of the constitution among staff
  • Promoting public service values and ethics

Additional Information:

Persons specification  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in security, or relevant social science studies from a recognized institution
  • Master’s degree in security or relevant social science from recognized Institution
  • Professional qualification and membership where applicable
  • Specialized training in security matters
  • Senior Management course lasting not less four (4) weeks
  • At least ten 6 years’ experience in security operations with training and experience in Investigation, prosecution, Intelligence in Military or paramilitary formation
  • Proficiency in computer applications
  • Meet the requirements of chapter six of the constitution of Kenya 2010.
