This is an exciting internship opportunity for a dynamic and driven individual passionate about climate action, innovation, and inclusive entrepreneurship. The 3ZERO House Intern will join the 3ZERO House Kenya team, and gain practical experience in communications, stakeholder engagement, marketing, event planning, reporting, and 3ZERO House operations, while contributing to the development and impact of an innovative multi-stakeholder platform. The role offers a unique chance to contribute to the growth of a cutting-edge innovation space and community, supporting key operational and strategic activities to foster cross-sector collaboration, visibility, and sustainable impact.
Responsibilities:
- Communications & Marketing
- Draft and schedule social media content aligned with the monthly content calendar.
- Draft and edit newsletters, blog articles, press releases, and feature stories showcasing 3ZH programmes, events, and impact.
- Collect and organize photos, quotes, and testimonials for storytelling and reports.
- Monitor digital performance and recommend strategies to improve reach and engagement.
- Event Planning & Support
- Assist in preparing and coordinating 3ZH events including workshops, roundtables, trainings, and hackathons.
- Support in event marketing (online campaigns, posters, email invites, media outreach).
- Prepare event logistics (RSVP tracking, materials prep, branding setup, tech coordination).
- Coordinate pre-, during-, and post-event communications.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships
- Support mapping and profiling of potential collaborators, partners, and stakeholders.
- Prepare briefing notes, factsheets, and profiles for external meetings.
- Assist in planning and following up on partner engagement meetings.
- Maintain an updated contact list/database of partners and ecosystem actors.
- Reporting & Documentation
- Draft monthly reports, event reports, and internal updates highlighting key outputs and insights.
- Contribute to drafting and editing donor and programme reports.
- Support proposal development and idea generation
- Support internal meetings by preparing agendas, taking minutes, and sharing action points.
- Protection mainstreaming
- Promoting of and adhering to Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse policy and guidelines (for site residents, Acted staff, partner agencies, casual labours etc).
- Uphold ACTED and 3ZH’s values, especially regarding inclusion, collaboration, environmental responsibility, and integrity.
- Perform any other related activities assigned by the line manager.
Required qualifications and technical competencies:
- Acted seeks a highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and passionate intern to assist and support the development of the 3ZERO House Initiative. The ideal candidate will have:
- At least a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, Communications and Marketing, Business Administration, Social Enterprise, or a related field. A master’s degree is an advantage.
- Fluent English (spoken and written), with excellent writing and communication skills.
- Demonstrated passion for climate change and environmental issues.
- An entrepreneurial spirit and basic understanding of business and finance sectors.
- Strong IT proficiency, especially in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Graphic design skills — especially in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).
- Experience (including through student groups or extracurricular activities) in:
- Developing partnerships with various stakeholders
- Planning and managing events
- Working with diverse and interdisciplinary teams
- Self-motivated, highly organized, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
