General Purpose
Our client, a food manufacturing company, is seeking an Assistant Cost Controller to assist in controlling and monitoring costs within the production process, ensuring accuracy in inventory valuation, product costing, and cost reporting. The role supports decision-making through financial analysis, focusing on cost control and efficiency improvements in the manufacturing process.
Location:
Nairobi | Salary: Ksh. 50,000 (gross)
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and share production and plant performance reports in comparison with set targets.
- Verify the reported outputs and analyze the machine’s performance.
- Monitor and verify machine breakdowns as reported and compute the costs incurred.
- Update the weekly production plan to be reviewed during the operations meeting.
- Verification of rework generated against the reported output.
- Monitoring, verification, and reporting of online damage to packing materials.
- Verification and recording of products approved for destruction by the QA and production manager.
- Carry out daily product yield analysis.
- Perform system adjustments as needed.
- Inventory control.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to the work order SOP.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly cost reports for management review.
- Maintain updated cost records, including labour, materials, and overheads.
- Give suggestions towards improving and controlling process lapses, cost savings, and product shortages.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in a similar role (cost control)
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills
- Proficiency in MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Able to work within tight deadlines
