POSITION SUMMARY
The Accounts Analyst is part of the accounting team and has the responsibility of providing timely and efficient accounting support to the Alliance of Bioversity International & CIAT offices in Africa (ABC) corporate accounting process. The position will report to Senior Coordinator – Financial Operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Checking for accuracy, preparing, and posting mileage recovery journals
• Posting of financial transactions
• Travel review (preparation of JVs, PVs, credit card reconciliation)
• Preparation of Nairobi cashflow, ensure it is timely reviewed and submitted to HQ
• Review of station cashflows, have them timely reviewed and submitted to HQ
• Supporting specific sub-regional offices ensuring proper posting of transactions
• Financial documents filling management
• Support in both external and internal audit
• Provide support in consolidating staff travel liquidation documents
• Maintenance of the payment control master file

REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE
• Degree in a relevant subject with proven finance and accounting skills
• Should have attained full CPA part II qualification or equivalent
• At least three (3) years of relevant work experience in a closely related field gained in an international organization;
• Good understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards IFRS’s
• Good oral and communication skills
• High level of computer skills, ability to handle complex financial and accounting systems including knowledge of financial ERP systems and ability to learn new applications quickly.
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, but also participate as a team member in accomplishment of duties.
• Possess excellent analytical skills, good judgment and a high level of respect for confidentiality.
• Demonstrate high level of integrity.
• Strong ability to co-ordinate, prioritize and organize workload; take initiative and work under pressure.
• Good communication skills with a positive attitude and a strong service orientation
• Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
• Commitment to ABC mission and core values.

Terms of employment:
This is a nationally recruited position based in Nairobi, Kenya. The contract will be for two years period, subject to a probation period of three (3) months and is renewable depending on performance and availability of resources.
