Job Brief:
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Airfreight Supervisor to join our Airfreight Department. The role involves overseeing efficient cargo movement, coordinating documentation, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing excellent client communication. The ideal candidate will have strong supervisory skills, in-depth knowledge of airfreight processes, and the ability to deliver cost-effective and compliant solutions.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Recommend shipping solutions to minimize cost or environmental impacts.
- Determine efficient and cost-effective methods of moving goods from one location to another.
- Arrange delivery or storage of goods at destinations.
- Arrange for special transport of sensitive cargo.
- Complete shipping documentation, including bills of lading, packing lists, dock receipts, and certificates of origin.
- Continuously inform clients of factors such as shipping options, timelines, transfers, or regulations affecting shipments.
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation, political situations, or other factors that could affect freight shipping.
- Monitor and record locations of goods in transit.
- Pay or arrange for payment of freight, insurance fees, or other charges.
- Recommend or arrange appropriate packing methods based on climate, terrain, weight, nature of goods, or costs.
- Verify adherence of documentation to customs, insurance, or regulatory requirements.
- Provide detailed port information to importers or exporters.
- Respond to quotations promptly and report the same to the COO.
- Ensure timely, consistent, and accurate updates for Airfreight shipments on TrakIT on the day they are worked on.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by management.
Qualification & Competencies:
- Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in airfreight operations or supervisory role in logistics.
- Strong understanding of airfreight documentation and customs procedures.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in MS Office and logistics management systems.
