Job Summary

The Assistant Accountant supports the Finance Manager in maintaining accurate financial records, processing financial transactions, preparing reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with organizational financial policies and statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process financial transactions, including payments and receipts.
  • Prepare and maintain accounting records and journals.
  • Assist in bank, cash, and ledger reconciliations.
  • Process supplier invoices and staff expense claims.
  • Support budget monitoring and expenditure tracking.
  • Prepare financial schedules and reports as required.
  • Maintain proper filing of financial documents.
  • Assist in payroll preparation and statutory deductions.
  • Support inventory and asset record management.
  • Assist during internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Perform any other finance-related duties assigned by the Finance Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
  • CPA Part II or equivalent professional qualification is an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications.

Experience

  • Relevant experience in accounting or finance.
  • Experience working with non-profit organizations or educational institutions is an added advantage.
