Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Accountant to join our finance team at the Kisumu Head Office. The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting the accounting function by ensuring accurate recording, reconciliation, and financial reporting. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth in a dynamic work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update accounting records, including ledgers, journals, and financial statements
  • Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable/receivable, and other financial discrepancies
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Support the finance team in budgeting, forecasting, and audit processes
  • Process invoices, expense claims, and payments in a timely manner
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve accounting-related queries
  • Contribute to process improvements for efficiency and accuracy in financial operations

Qualifications and Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Completed CPA Foundation Level and actively pursuing CPA Intermediate or Advanced Level

Experience:

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance roles

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Proficiency in standard office applications (e.g., MS Office, especially Excel)
  • Familiarity with accounting software will be an advantage
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
