- Reporting to the Deputy Director – Asset Tracing, the jobholder is responsible for the development, review and implementation of asset tracing policies, procedures, strategies, systems and processes to ensure identification of unexplained assets/wealth.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinating, planning and supervision of investigation of unexplained wealth;
- Initiating preservation of assets that are subject of investigation;
- Supporting prosecution and civil recovery process in Court;
- Coordinating requests for valuation of assets traced;
- Undertaking Alternative Dispute Resolution;
- Preparing and executing all Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) requests;
- Contributing to preparation of departmental budget;
- Monitoring implementation of departmental work plans on monthly, quarterly and annual basis through review meetings and reporting;
- Coordinating the development and implementation of asset tracing policies, procedures, strategies, systems and processes;
- Coordinating maintenance of the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct and integrity in the investigation and prosecution of corruption and economic crime cases.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment as an Assistant Director – Unexplained Wealth, a person must possess the following qualifications:
- Minimum of twelve (12) years’ relevant work experience, three (3) of which must have been at the level of Senior Officer or a comparable position in a reputable organisation;
- A Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Accounting Auditing, Finance, Business Administration, Procurement, Communications, Economics, Political Science, Law, Engineering, Education or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution;
- Relevant professional qualifications; and
- Member of a professional body in good standing.
Note
The following qualifications shall be regarded as an added advantage:
- Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Arts, Criminology, Communications, Economics, Political Science, Science, Law, Education, International Relations, Engineering, Business Management, Public Administration, Governance or an equivalent qualification from a recognised University;
- Certificate in Strategic Leadership and Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognised institution.
In addition, the candidate must possess the following core competencies:
- Leadership skills;
- Communication skills;
- Interpersonal skills;
- Organisational skills;
- Ability to work under pressure;
- Negotiation skills;
- Ability to build and lead cohesive teams; and
- Problem solving skills;
- Knowledge of the Constitution and the Law
