Job Description
Position holder will be responsible for ensuring that green bean coffee samples are promptly roasted for timely analysis of the same by the Coffee Liquorer(s). The core activities include prioritizing on roasting of auction catalogue samples plus other direct offer samples from farmers, instructions implementation as issued by the team lead, roaster machine monitoring for its effectiveness and reporting for any possible maintenance needs and Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) procedures are fully observed.
Main Responsibilities:
- Roasting of coffee samples from both auction catalogues and direct offers from farmers as will be presented to the staff by the Liquorer.
- Setting and preparing of cupping table for coffee that is to be organoleptically analyzed.
- Ensuring proper sanitation within the quality laboratory environment
- Handling of coffee samples within the coffee laboratory area and discards where required on instruction of a Liquorer.
- Training of other laboratory staff on the coffee roasting process.
- Any other responsibility as will be assigned to the staff on a day-to-day basis.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Previous experience in coffee roasting operations, preferably in a busy coffee laboratory set up, familiarity with coffee laboratory equipment and testing procedures.
- Strong knowledge of coffee processing methods and industry quality standards.
- Effective oral and written communication and collaboration skills.
- Sensory evaluation skills, including cupping proficiency will be an added advantage.
- Post Secondary education training is a pre-requirement with a Certificate and/or Diploma training in Coffee Knowledge being an added advantage.
- Computer literate mainly in Microsoft Office application
