Habitat for Humanity International, generally referred to as Habitat for Humanity or simply Habitat, is an international, non-governmental, and nonprofit organization, which was founded in 1976.
Responsibilities or duties
Collaboratively work with Area Offices and National Offices specific prioritized project or technical support. (35%)
Provide surge capacity on programmatic and technical support as needed during the inception, technical staff onboarding and implementation of complex new projects as assigned by supervisor.
Support situation update/report creation & distribution with all relevant teams.
Collaboratively work with Area Offices and National Offices on overall HDRR strengthening initiatives. (30%)
Support the work with Area Offices in the implementation of HDRR capacity assessments and/or training with Habitat National Offices, informing the allocation and follow up of disaster readiness grants.
Support other prioritized HDRR strengthening initiatives on request.
Travel to and operate in diverse settings to support Habitat and partner teams with disaster readiness, resilience and recovery programming. In case of an emergency response: deploy to provide surge capacity to the emergency project in potentially hazardous environments. (15%)
Support HDRR team knowledge management, research and learning (10%)
Summarize and disseminate new and existing research for advocacy and knowledge exchange. This involves direct coordination with Communications and the Learning and Research community of practice.
Contribute to knowledge content management as required to HDRR themes and contents in the International Knowledge Center (IKC).
Contribute to the ongoing update of the HDRR databases.
Oversee After Action Review process, evaluation and documentation as assigned.
Contribute to and manage other related projects. (10%)
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Education
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
Experience needed
Years of Related Experience
7+ years of disaster response or risk reduction experience, including field experience.
Formal training or equivalent experience in disaster risk reduction and emergency response management.
