About the job

We are adding an Associate Frontend Developer to our remote team to help us build internal tools and dashboards for our clients. Currently, our partner is an East Coast logistics company that needs a set of web interfaces to manage their shipping schedules and inventory data. You will spend your time building practical user interfaces that help their operations staff move away from outdated spreadsheets and into structured, reliable web applications. This is a junior role where you will learn how to build software that solves real business problems rather than just chasing the newest design trends.

About Pixel Systems

Pixel Systems is a small, fully remote software agency. We do not build flashy consumer apps, marketing sites, or experimental social platforms. We focus on the practical stuff: admin panels, CRM integrations, and the database migrations that most teams try to avoid. Our clients come to us when they need to replace a disorganized system with a real database or get their different software tools to finally talk to one another.

We believe that working code is better than a perfect plan that never ships. Our approach is straightforward. We provide fixed quotes before we start, we do weekly demos, and we hand over everything (the code, the documentation, and even walkthrough videos) when we finish a project. We use reliable, well-tested technologies like React, Node, and Postgres because we want the software we build to be stable and easy to maintain over the long term. We are a team of developers who prefer solving operational headaches over following industry hype.

The role

In this role, you will be working directly on the frontend components of our client projects. You will be building forms, data tables, and navigation systems that make complex information easy to read and manage. Because we are a small team, you will see your work move from a design or a basic requirement into a production environment very quickly. Since this is a fully remote position, you will use tools like GitHub and Slack to stay in sync with the rest of the team.

A typical week might involve taking a set of requirements for a new inventory dashboard and turning them into functional React components. You might spend a morning styling a new admin layout with CSS or an afternoon connecting a frontend form to one of our Node APIs. You will also participate in our weekly demos where we show our progress to the client and get direct feedback on how the tools are working for their staff.

What you bring

We are looking for someone who is organized, curious about how business software works, and ready to write readable, maintainable code. As this is an entry level role, we do not expect you to have decades of experience, but we do need you to have a solid grasp of the basics. This position is fully paid and offers compensation that is competitive for the current market and your level of experience.

  • A basic understanding of HTML and CSS, including how to build layouts that work on different screen sizes.
  • Familiarity with JavaScript and the ability to explain how data flows through a web application.
  • Some experience with React, even if it is through personal projects, a bootcamp, or university coursework.
  • A preference for clarity over cleverness in your code so that others can easily understand your work.
  • Strong communication skills for a remote environment, specifically the ability to explain technical problems in plain English.
  • Reliability in meeting small deadlines and showing up for scheduled team syncs.
  • The ability to follow existing code patterns while also asking questions when something does not make sense.

Helpful background

While not strictly required, having some familiarity with the following tools and concepts will help you get started more quickly at Pixel Systems:

  • Basic experience using Git and GitHub for version control and code reviews.
  • Familiarity with calling APIs and handling the data they return.
  • A basic understanding of how relational databases like Postgres work.
  • Experience writing simple documentation or README files for your projects.
  • Exposure to frontend styling libraries or utility frameworks like Tailwind or Bootstrap.
  • An interest in learning how to build tools for specific industries like logistics, construction, or finance.

Working at Pixel Systems

Working here means focusing on the work itself rather than internal politics or long meetings. Because we are a small, remote agency, there are no management layers to navigate. You will work closely with other developers who can provide guidance and feedback on your code. We value a healthy work balance and expect everyone to be available during their working hours, but we do not track your time down to the minute. We care about whether the code works and if the client is happy.

We take pride in building systems that help real people do their jobs more efficiently. When you build a dashboard that helps a warehouse manager track their shipments more accurately, you are making a tangible difference in their day-to-day operations. We are looking for people who find that kind of work fulfilling and who want to grow their skills in a stable, no-drama environment.
