Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • A Doctor of Philosophy degree (Ph.D/ D.Phil.) from a recognized/accredited Institution;
  • OR
  • MMed or MDS, and Specialist training;
  • Evidence of recognition and registration by a relevant regulatory body where applicable;
  • Evidence of membership or affiliation to a relevant professional body where applicable;

Experience needed

  • a cumulative of three (3) years of teaching or research experience at university level since becoming a Senior Lecturer;
  • have research output points comprising at least thirty-six (36) points from refereed scholarly journals and/ or university level book, six (6) points from postgraduate students’ supervision and two (2)) points from publications in conference proceedings since appointment to the position of Senior Lecturer;
  • evidence of continued evaluated effective teaching and successful supervision of graduate students;

  • Attended and contributed at learned conferences, seminars or workshops;
  • Evidence of contribution to community, national and international service;
  • Evidence of contribution to University service through participation in Departmental matters, students’ academic advising, and School and University meetings and committee membership, among others; and
  • Evidence of having developed proposals that have attracted funding.
  • teach and assess courses in one’s discipline/ area of specialization at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
  • supervise undergraduate students’ projects and other experiential learning programs;
  • supervise dissertations/ theses at postgraduate level;
  • assist in developing/ review of undergraduate and postgraduate courses;
  • initiate, promote and participate in research projects and publish research findings;
  • provide academic leadership through program development, mentoring and research;
  • provide professional and community services, and initiate strategic partnerships and linkages, and undertake fundraising for the University; and
  • carry out administrative and such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
