Audit and Risk Compliance Manager: JOB REF - ELDOWAS/2019/1A/01
Reporting: Functionally to the Board through Audit Committee and administratively to the Managing Director.
Job Summary:The role holder will be responsible for planning and conducting operational, financial and compliance audits to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, governance processes and risk management. This is so as to provide assurance and consulting services which add value and improve the company operations. He/she will also make appropriate recommendations to management on internal control and governance best practices.

Requirements for appointment The ideal officer should have the following minimum requirements:
• A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or any other relevant field or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Must be a Certified Public Accountant - CPA (K) or ACCA.
• Must be a registered member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).
• A Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Management will be an added advantage.
• Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Internal Auditor (CA Certified Forensic Examiner (CFE) qualification or any other similar
• recognized professional body will be an added advantage.
• Have a minimum of eight (8) years relevant work experience, five (5) years of which should have been in managerial position overseeing internal audit, risk
• management and compliance functions.
• Have knowledge of Computer Aided Audit programs.
• Proficiency in computer operations and skills.
• Experience of auditing ERP systems will be an added advantage. Have proven people management experience as well as strong communication, interpersonal negotiation and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:
• Developing and continuously reviewing and assessing the internal audit strategy, policies, procedures, and guidelines;
• Ensuring implementation of audit plans as approved by the Risk and Audit Committee;
• Coordinating audit reviews of the effectiveness of risk management process and the adequacy of internal controls;
• Overseeing preparation and submission of periodic audit and risk management reports;
• Overseeing the development and implementation of the Risk Management Framework:
• Managing risk assessment and developing risk management guidelines as well as fraud investigation and anti-corruption strategy
• Overseeing setting up and implementation of internal audit systems in accordance with International Auditing Standards;
• Reporting and communicating audit findings and recommendations to the Management and to the Risk and Audit Committee;
• Instituting follow-up audits to ensure implementation of audit recommendations;
• Coordinating timely performance of special audit investigations and forensic audits as necessary, and
• Overseeing supervision, staff development and performance evaluation appraisal.
