A barista's main duties include preparing and serving beverages, taking customer orders, operating and maintaining coffee equipment, and handling payments.
Beverage Preparation: Brew and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, espresso drinks, teas, and specialty drinks. Customer Service: Greet customers, take orders, answer menu questions, and offer recommendations to enhance their experience. Equipment Operation: Safely and efficiently operate espresso machines, grinders, and other brewing and food service equipment. Order Processing & Payments: Accurately take orders and process cash and credit card transactions using a point-of-sale system. Workplace Maintenance: Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized work area and cafe seating, cleaning counters, equipment, and utensils. Inventory Management: Monitor and manage stock levels of coffee beans, milk, and other supplies, replenishing as needed. Adherence to Standards: Follow company recipes, standards, and health and safety guidelines at all times. Teamwork: Collaborate with team members and communicate customer feedback or suggestions to management.
Customer Service: Greet customers warmly, provide excellent service, and address their needs and concerns. Communication: Clearly communicate with customers and team members. Multitasking: Efficiently manage multiple tasks, especially during busy periods. Attention to Detail: Ensure accuracy in orders and meticulous preparation of beverages. Cash Handling & Math Skills: Accurately process payments and handle basic transactions. Coffee Knowledge: Understand different coffee blends, brewing techniques, and menu items. Problem-Solving: Ability to address and resolve customer issues or operational challenges. Teamwork: Work effectively with colleagues to ensure a smooth workflow.
