The Role
Zeno is seeking a hands-on and dependable Battery Technician to support the maintenance, charging, and tracking of Zeno’s battery systems across Nairobi. This role ensures the smooth operation of Zeno’s battery swap and charging network by carrying out essential technical tasks, inspections, and data logging. You’ll handle batteries throughout their lifecycle — including receiving, charging, draining, and basic repairs — while following Zeno’s safety, quality, and reporting standards. The ideal candidate is technically skilled, safety-conscious, and eager to grow within a fast-moving electric mobility environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Battery Handling: Conduct daily operations including battery charging, draining, and conditioning following standard operating procedures.
- Inspection & Testing: Check incoming and outgoing batteries for physical damage, voltage levels, and performance status before and after use.
- Repairs & Replacements: Perform connector replacements, casing checks, and minor repairs as directed by the Senior Battery Technician or Engineering team.
- Inventory & Tracking: Maintain accurate battery logs, record serial numbers, and track movements in digital systems or ERP tools.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols when handling high-voltage equipment and ensure work areas are organized and hazard-free.
- Reporting: Log all battery-related activities, issues, and incidents in the tracking system, escalating complex technical problems to senior staff.
- Support Operations: Assist with battery logistics between swap stations, service facilities, and storage areas.
- Continuous Improvement: Provide feedback from daily operations to improve procedures and reliability of the battery fleet
What You Bring:
- 2+ years of experience in electrical maintenance, battery handling, or related technical fields
- Basic knowledge of lithium-ion battery systems, charging practices, and safety procedures.
- Ability to follow technical instructions, work methodically, and maintain accurate records.
- Comfortable using tools for electrical inspection, connector replacement, and component checks.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe, high-quality workmanship.
- Good teamwork and communication skills with the ability to follow direction and support senior technicians.
- Eagerness to learn and grow within the rapidly evolving EV industry.
