Job Purpose
We are seeking a biomedical engineer who will provide expert-level experience in the repair,
calibration, and maintenance of dental equipment, instrumentation, and support systems used in
healthcare delivery. He/she will be in charge of Executing professional-level inventory
assessment/audits and preventive maintenance of dental equipment, provide remedial corrective
maintenance and maintain documentation of all service events, tests, and maintenance performed
on clinical equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct a thorough assessment of the installation site to ensure that the space, utilities and
environmental conditions meet the requirements for the medical equipment being installed.
Coordinate with hospital or healthcare facility staff to ensure the installation site is prepared,
including space clearance, power outlets, and any other necessary infrastructure.
Create a detailed installation plan, considering the layout, equipment dimensions, necessary
utilities, and workflow of the healthcare facility.
Prepare a timeline for the installation process, ensuring minimal disruption to the facility’s
operations.
Set up the equipment in the designated area, ensuring proper alignment, placement, and
connection to power, data, or utility systems as required.
Perform initial calibration of the equipment, ensuring it meets manufacturer-specified
standards for accuracy, sensitivity, and performance.
Configure the software settings of the equipment according to the specific needs of the
healthcare facility or end-users.
Conduct a series of tests to ensure that the installed equipment is functioning correctly. This
includes checking mechanical, electrical, and software systems.
Conduct safety tests, including electrical safety, leakage current tests, grounding checks, and
adherence to hospital safety protocols.
Provide training to hospital staff, technicians, and medical personnel on how to operate the
equipment. This includes demonstrating basic functionality, safety protocols, troubleshooting,
and regular maintenance tasks.
Keep comprehensive update on all running warranties.
After installation and testing, formally hand over the equipment to the client with complete
documentation, including test results, certificates of calibration, warranties, and any legal
compliance documents.
Act as the first point of contact for any issues or malfunctions. Conduct on-site troubleshooting
to diagnose problems, repair or replace faulty components, or recalibrate the device if
necessary.

Coordinate with the manufacturer for major repairs or replacements if the issue is beyond the
company’s repair capability.
Maintain detailed documentation of the installation process, including equipment serial
numbers, calibration data, test results, and safety checks.
Carry out preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing on dental devices and systems,
and oversee preventive maintenance tasks performed by external vendors.
Analyze the results of preventive maintenance and suggest improvements to the department.
Maintain digital records of repairs, faulty components, and recalibrations.
Ensure all equipment adheres to safety and quality standards and complies with relevant
regulations.
Keep precise inventory records of clinical equipment, including additions and deactivations.
Assess the safety, efficiency, and performance of biomedical machines and software.
Document all new equipment, inspections, and repair activities, and manage third-party repairs.
Prepare reports and documents outlining protocols, policies, and standards related to
biomedical equipment and software.
Conduct research to advance dental technology, improve existing products, and integrate new
materials or techniques to enhance dental treatments.
Collaborate with other engineers, dentists, and medical professionals to address any issues with
existing dental technologies and to develop solutions that improve.
Maintaining detailed records of equipment status, maintenance activities, and repair histories to
ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Communicating with equipment manufacturers and service providers for parts procurement
and warranty services.
Training new hires in the department.
Minimum Qualifications.
Diploma or Higher Diploma in Biomedical Engineering.
At least 2 years’ biomedical engineer in hospital or dental setting.
Exceptional knowledge of the structure and uses of dental equipment.
Ability to analyze, repair, and test electronic and electromechanical equipment.
Ability to perform preventive maintenance inspections.
Ability to run diagnostic programs.
Strong communication skills and the ability to present complex information in layman’s terms.
Hands-on approach to getting things done; good work ethic and a sense of urgency in solving
problems.
Flexible – able to respond to emergencies as and when needed
Ability to conduct training needs assessment on the use of dental machines, plan and execute
trainings for the machine end users.
