Key Responsibilities

  • Field-based business diagnostics and support
  • Lead on-site diagnostics and engagement sessions with early-stage portfolio companies to identify operational bottlenecks, growth constraints, and specific resource needs.
  • Financial and operational performance monitoring
  • Establish and track key financial metrics (e.g., burn rate, revenue growth, unit economics) and operational KPIs (e.g., customer acquisition cost, retention rate) for the portfolio.
  • Deal scouting and initial opportunity vetting
  • Proactively scout and identify new investment opportunities through ecosystem networking, field visits, and initial screening. Conduct preliminary due diligence and financial health checks to determine alignment with MTI's investment criteria before handing off qualified leads to the core investment team.
  • Investment readiness and scale-up advisory
  • Act as the primary interface between the MTI team and the portfolio founders.
  • Market insight generation and knowledge documentation
  • Systematically capture ground-level market intelligence and emerging trends observed during field visits and scouting activities.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Kenyan national, preferably aged between 22–35 years
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related disciplines.
  • 1–3 years of experience in corporate finance, business development, entrepreneurship support, or investment analysis
  • Excellent knowledge in workspace & collaboration tools, Google Workspace, MS Office, especially PowerPoint and Excel
  • Entrepreneurial experience is considered an advantage
  • Professional fluency in English and Kiswahili is a must
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
