Business Banker – SME
Responsibilities
Business Development and Relationship Management
- Develop, manage, and grow a portfolio of MSME and emerging business customers through proactive relationship management and solution-based selling.
- Acquire new-to-bank business relationships and deepen existing customer relationships through structured engagement and regular portfolio reviews.
- Grow customer liabilities through Transaction Accounts, Current Accounts, Savings Accounts, Fixed Deposits, and Cash Management solutions.
- Promote and sell the Bank’s comprehensive suite of Business Banking products and services, including lending, trade finance, digital banking, insurance, and investment solutions.
- Act as the primary relationship manager and trusted advisor for business customers, providing professional financial guidance tailored to their business needs and growth ambitions.
- Identify opportunities for customer value enhancement through cross-selling and upselling of relevant financial solutions.
Credit and Lending
- Drive growth of the business lending portfolio across working capital facilities, term loans, asset finance, mortgage finance, trade finance, and consumer lending products.
- Conduct financial analysis and credit assessments to determine customer funding requirements and recommend appropriate credit solutions.
- Prepare and submit quality credit applications supported by comprehensive financial and business analysis.
- Monitor portfolio performance and proactively manage credit quality, delinquency trends, and early warning signals.
- Ensure timely review and renewal of credit facilities in accordance with the Bank’s credit policies.
Trade Finance and Transaction Banking
- Originate and grow trade finance business, including Letters of Credit, Bank Guarantees, Import Finance, Export Finance, and other trade-related products.
- Identify opportunities to support customers involved in local and international trade through customized trade finance solutions.
- Drive adoption of digital banking and transaction banking solutions to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
Sales and Portfolio Management
- Develop and execute customer acquisition plans, sales strategies, and relationship management activities to achieve assigned business targets.
- Prepare and implement structured call plans, conduct customer visits, and maintain accurate call reports and pipeline management records.
- Leverage customer data and market intelligence to identify business opportunities, industry trends, and portfolio growth prospects.
- Manage customer retention initiatives and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and service excellence.
Risk, Compliance, and Governance
- Ensure strict adherence to all regulatory requirements, internal policies, and operational procedures.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate operational, credit, compliance, and reputational risks within the portfolio.
- Ensure compliance with AML, KYC, CTF, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
- Report and escalate suspicious transactions and potential financial crime risks in line with established Bank policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate customer information and ensure periodic customer reviews are conducted as required by policy.
Qualifications
Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Banking, or a related field.
- Professional banking qualifications (AKIB, CPA, ACCA, CFA, Credit Management, or equivalent) will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience in Banking, with significant exposure in MSME, Commercial Banking, or Business Banking relationship management.
- Proven track record in portfolio growth, customer acquisition, and relationship management within the MSME segment.
- Demonstrable experience in Business Lending, Consumer Lending, Trade Finance, Asset Finance, Mortgage Finance, and Working Capital Solutions.
- Strong understanding of financial analysis, credit structuring, and risk assessment.
- Experience in managing a sizeable customer portfolio and consistently achieving business targets.
