A Community Oral Health Officer (COHO) conducts dental examinations, diagnoses and treats common oral conditions, and provides oral health education and outreach to promote hygiene in communities. 

Clinical Services: Perform dental examinations, clean teeth, and carry out temporary and permanent restorations for patients. Health Education: Conduct dental health education programs and community outreach to raise awareness about oral hygiene. Program Development: Develop and implement community-based oral health programs and conduct research to improve oral health. Infection Control: Adhere to infection prevention protocols by cleaning procedure spaces and autoclaving instruments. Data Management: Maintain records of daily activities, prepare reports, manage inventory of supplies, and analyze data to inform program improvements. Referrals and Supervision: Make necessary referrals for complex cases and supervise junior dental staff.

Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, staff, and the wider community. Empathy and Compassion: Ability to provide compassionate care to patients from diverse backgrounds. Leadership and Analytical Skills: Strong leadership and analytical skills for managing clinic processes and programs. Clinical Expertise: Proficiency in dental examinations, treatment, and the use of dental equipment. Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills to manage resources, maintain records, and ensure efficient clinic operations. Computer Literacy: Computer literacy is often a required skill for data management and reporting.
