Reporting to the Property Manager, the role of the Caretaker shall supervise the day-to-day operations of the office complex to the satisfaction of its tenants, the Property Manager, Management Committee, and the management of the board of directors.

Major duties & Responsibilities

  1. Ensure timely rent and service charge collection.
  2. Ensure the building is always kept clean in liaison with the service provider.
  3. Conduct regular inspection of the buildings’ facilities and services and report on repairs and maintenance needs.
  4. Ensuring that all mechanical systems are functioning properly.
  5. Oversee and monitoring the general security of the building in liaison with the service provider.
  6. Enforcing security protocols and regulations to ensure safe environment.
  7. Submit daily status reports to the property manager for information and action/direction, relating to security, repairs and maintenance, tenant welfare and rent collection.
  8. Maintain a stock register for all items issued through the property manager and their usage.
  9. Attend to emergency breakdowns, security incidents and taking appropriate action to resolve them.
  10. Assist in the letting of space.
  11. Perform any other duties that may be allocated by the property manager and the Management Committee.

Person Specification

  • Diploma/Higher National Diploma in Property Management, Facility Management, or a related field. 
  • At least 2 years of experience in property maintenance & repair, security, or facility management. 
  • Knowledge of property laws and regulations in Kenya.
  • KCSE (mean grade C-) or equivalent qualification. 
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical work, and general repairs.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to multitask, supervise cleaning and maintenance teams. 
  • Proficiency in computer applications

OR

  • Certificate in Building Management, Facility Management, or a related field. 
  • KCSE (mean grade D+) or equivalent qualification. 
  • At least 5 years of experience in property maintenance, security, or facility management. 
  •  Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical work, and general repairs. 
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to supervise cleaning and maintenance teams.
  •  Proficiency in computer applications
