Responsibilities:
- All general carpentry maintenance. The maintenance and repair of all woodwork and furniture in the hotel.
- Is a member of the Company Fire Fighting team.
- To assist other artisans with all other maintenance and repairs where required.
- To maintain the highest standards of workmanship and occupational safety.
- To control the loss, abuse and breakage of operating equipment and to ensure all equipment and tools are handled and stored correctly.
- To develop a thorough knowledge of all facilities and equipment of the hotel. To further develop a thorough knowledge of all plumbing installations and distribution of the hotel.
- To maintain at all times the highest standard of appearance and integrity in accordance with company policy.
- To maintain a good working relationship with all staff and departments related to the engineering department.
- To be familiar with the staff handbook, house rules and fire and safety procedures.
- To perform other duties as may be directed by the management or the supervisors.
- To be available to work overtime at the request of the Unit Engineer or his delegated assistants.
- To ensure that all allocated jobs are carried out speedily and to the standards laid down by the company.
- To be aware of all functions and conferences taking place at the hotel.
- To be prepared to stand in at any time in other departments when necessary.
- To ensure that the workshop is kept clean and tidy at all times.
- To ensure that you are well groomed and smartly dressed. To be punctual when arriving on and going off duty.
- To be aware of emergency procedures and steps to take in the event of an emergency.
- To respond to all calls from other departments.
- To attend and be attentive to any training offered.
- To assist contractors when required.
- To ensure that wherever any work is performed the area is left in a clean and acceptable condition.
