BACKGROUND
The Murang’a County Public Service Board (CPSB) is established under Section 57 of the County Governments Act, 2012. The Board is mandated to establish and abolish offices in the county public service, appoint persons to hold or act in offices in the county public service, including the confirmation of appointments, exercise disciplinary control over persons holding or acting in those offices, and remove persons from the county public service. The Board is also responsible for implementing and monitoring the county public service performance management system.
The County Government of Murang’a is seeking to recruit a qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of Chairperson, County Public Service Board. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong leadership, integrity, and a deep understanding of public administration and human resource management.
Responsibilities
The Chairperson shall be the head of the County Public Service Board and shall be responsible for:
- Providing strategic leadership and direction to the Board.
- Presiding over Board meetings and ensuring the effective functioning of the Board.
- Ensuring the Board discharges its mandate effectively and efficiently in accordance with the law.
- Representing the Board in national and international forums.
- Overseeing the implementation of Board decisions and policies.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
- Managing the Board’s budget and resources.
- Providing guidance and support to Board members and staff.
- Liaising with the Governor, County Executive Committee Members, and the County Assembly.
QUALIFICATIONS
The following qualifications are required for the position:
- A Kenyan citizen.
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. A Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant professional experience, with at least five (5) years in a leadership or senior management position.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in public administration, human resource management, or a related field.
- Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
- High integrity and ethical standards, with a proven track record of good conduct.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, the County Governments Act, 2012, and other relevant legislation.
- Must satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on leadership and integrity.
