PeopleLink Consultants Ltd is a leading recruitment firm in Kenya. We are seeking to fill the position of Chef Reliever for our client in the hospitality industry. This is a great opportunity for experienced chefs to join a dynamic team and contribute to the success of a reputable establishment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and present dishes in line with established menus and recipes.
  • Support daily kitchen operations during staff absences or peak demand periods.
  • Ensure consistent quality in both Chinese cuisine and Kenyan/local dishes.
  • Assist in food preparation, portioning, and plating as required.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety in compliance with HACCP and company policies.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of food supplies and ingredients.
  • Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth service delivery.
  • Follow instructions from the Head Chef or Kitchen Supervisor.
  • Minimize food wastage and support cost-control initiatives.
  • Ensure timely preparation and delivery of meals during service periods.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Chef, Cook, or similar role in a busy kitchen environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in both Chinese cuisine and Kenyan/local cuisine is mandatory.
  • Certificate or Diploma in Culinary Arts or related field is an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • High level of discipline, cleanliness, and attention to detail.
