Office Cleaner and Chef
Job Purpose
To maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic office environment while preparing and providing quality meals for staff. The role is responsible for office cleaning and housekeeping, food preparation, kitchen management, and operating a staff lunch service in compliance with health, safety, and food hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities
Office Cleaning and Housekeeping
- Clean and maintain all office areas including workstations, meeting rooms, reception areas, kitchens, washrooms, corridors, and common areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize office surfaces regularly.
- Empty waste bins and ensure proper waste disposal and segregation.
- Clean windows, doors, office furniture, and other fixtures.
- Replenish consumables such as tissue paper, soap, hand towels, and cleaning supplies.
- Ensure the office kitchen and dining areas are clean and organized at all times.
- Report maintenance issues, damages, and safety concerns to management promptly.
- Properly store and maintain cleaning equipment and supplies.
Food Preparation and Staff Lunch Service
- Plan, prepare, cook, and serve nutritious and affordable meals for staff.
- Develop daily or weekly menus in consultation with management and staff preferences.
- Purchase or coordinate procurement of food ingredients and kitchen supplies as approved.
- Ensure meals are prepared and served on time.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and portion control.
- Manage the staff lunch program, including recording meals sold and maintaining basic sales records where required.
- Monitor food stock levels and communicate replenishment needs in a timely manner.
- Minimize food wastage through proper planning, storage, and inventory management.
Food Safety, Hygiene, and Compliance
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen, dining area, equipment, and utensils.
- Ensure food is stored, handled, and prepared in accordance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Monitor food freshness, expiry dates, and storage conditions.
- Adhere to occupational health and safety requirements at all times.
- Maintain a valid Food Handler's Certificate and comply with all relevant health regulations.
Administrative and General Support
- Assist in preparing refreshments for meetings, training sessions, and office events as required.
- Maintain inventory records for cleaning supplies and kitchen consumables.
- Support office initiatives aimed at promoting cleanliness, hygiene, and employee well-being.
- Perform any other duties reasonably assigned by management within the scope of the role.
Requirements
- KCSE Certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Certificate in Food Production, Catering, Hospitality, or a related field is an added advantage.
- Valid Food Handler's Certificate.
- At least 2 years' experience in cleaning, catering, food preparation, or a similar role.
- Experience managing a small office kitchen or staff canteen will be an added advantage.
