CHEF

Job Purpose

The Chef will oversee food preparation and cooking while ensuring that meals meet the restaurant's standards for quality, taste, presentation, consistency, and hygiene.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to approved recipes and menus.
• Ensure consistency in food quality, taste, and presentation.
• Plan and coordinate food preparation activities.
• Supervise cooks and kitchen assistants where required.
• Monitor food portions and minimize wastage.
• Check the quality and freshness of ingredients.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen sanitation.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of food items.
• Monitor kitchen equipment and report faults.
• Assist with menu planning and development where required.
• Coordinate with service staff to ensure timely order preparation.
• Follow health, safety, and food-handling regulations.
• Perform other kitchen duties assigned by management.

Qualifications & Skills

• Relevant training in Culinary Arts, Food Production, Catering, or Hospitality is an advantage.
• Proven experience as a Chef or in a professional kitchen.
• Strong knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques.
• Good leadership and organizational skills.
• Creativity and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy kitchen.
• Strong knowledge of food hygiene and safety.

Level of Education: high school
