Job Summary

We are seeking to recruit a qualified, experienced and highly motivated individual to fill the position of Chief Accountant.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all the operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting.
• Implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
• Preparing and approving monthly bank reconciliations.
• Preparing and filing statutory returns.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulatory requirements.
• Manage month and year-end closing processes.
• Preparing Annual budgets.
• Monthly reconciliation of all control accounts.
• Ensuring timely preparation of management reports by specific dates
• Payroll management.
• Coordinate and liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory agencies to facilitate audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements.
• Providing mentorship to accounting staff and other support staff.
• Any other duty assigned from time to time

Requirements

Skills

• Strong understanding of accounting principles, standards, and tax regulations (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
• Ability to communicate complex financial concepts effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks accounting software.
• Proven numerical competence and attention to details
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication skills both verbal & written
• Experience in heading a finance department and demonstrated capability to supervise a team.
• Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
• Excellent leadership, time and team management skills.
• Good IT knowledge
• Integrity and professionalism in handling confidential financial information.

Qualifications

• CPA (K). (Mandatory)
• Bachelor's degree in either Accounting, Finance, Commerce or Business, will be an added advantage.
• Experience as Chief Accountant or similar role, with a minimum of 4 years.
