Job Overview:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the overall financial management of the IRC Kenya country program. This includes financial planning, budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, and treasury management. The CFO will work closely with the Country Director and senior management team to ensure the financial health and sustainability of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures in line with IRC global standards and local regulations.
- Oversee the preparation and management of the annual budget, including forecasting and variance analysis.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders, including donors and government authorities.
- Strengthen internal control systems to safeguard organizational assets and prevent fraud.
- Manage treasury operations, including cash flow management, bank relations, and foreign exchange.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and donor requirements.
- Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and professional development.
- Provide financial advice and support to the Country Director and program teams to ensure effective program delivery.
- Oversee the audit process, both internal and external.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CA) is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in financial management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
- Experience working in the non-profit sector, preferably with international humanitarian organizations.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards (e.g., IFRS), and donor regulations.
- Proficiency in financial management software and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and fast-paced environment.
