Role Overview:

We’re seeking a hands-on, strategic CTO to architect and lead all technology initiatives—from improving our microservices-based software platform to deploying AI models for predictive charging and battery availability. You will work at the intersection of software, hardware, and mobility infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement microservice-based backend systems.
• Develop, test, and maintain robust, scalable, secure applications (Node.js, Python, Express, Fastify).
• Manage databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, CouchDB.
• Deploy/manage applications in Dockerized environments on Linode (Linux OS).
• Lead development of AI-based charging algorithms tailored to diverse battery chemistries, demand cycles, and power availability.
• Oversee prototyping and deployment of demand forecasting and battery availability optimisation models; collaborate with battery engineers.
• Lead and mentor a team of developers; set coding standards and best practices.
• Oversee front-end development with React, TypeScript, TailwindCSS; ensure seamless RESTful API integrations with mobility platform.
• Implement automated testing (Jest); maintain CI/CD pipelines (Git, GitHub, Jenkins).
• Translate business goals into technology roadmaps aligned with infrastructure rollout phases and partner integrations (OEMs, ride-hailing, finance).

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering or related; Master’s preferred.
• At least 8 years of software experience with at least 3 years managing and growing teams.
• Expertise in Node.js, Python, Express, Fastify; microservices architecture design/implementation.
• Experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, CouchDB; Docker; Linux; Linode.
• Front-end experience: React, TypeScript, TailwindCSS.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and API security best practices; CI/CD pipelines; automated testing.
• Strong leadership, mentoring skills; excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Passion for clean energy, sustainable transport, African innovation ecosystems.

Nice to Have:

• Experience integrating hardware (battery or IoT) systems into digital platforms.
• Understanding of multi-modal charging optimisation or fleet intelligence.
• Past work with startups or early-stage venture-backed tech companies; IoT experience.
