Background

Tatu is a project of Rendeavour, Africa’s largest urban land developer with over 30,000 acres of visionary projects in the growth trajectories of large cities in Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia and Democratic Republic of Congo. Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled civil and structural Quality Control Engineer responsible for ensuring that all construction activities comply with approved designs, specifications, and industry standards. The role focuses on inspection, testing, documentation, and coordination to guarantee that civil and structural works are executed to the highest quality standards and safety. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in preventing defects, ensuring compliance, and supporting continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle. Provide consulting services for planning and organizing work, as well as for planning and calculating the amount of materials on the construction site. The role does not replace the statutory or contractual responsibilities of consultants, contractors or supervising engineers, but acts as the company’s internal quality control function to protect the employer’s interests and ensure compliance with approved project requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Control

• Implement and maintain the project Quality Management System (QMS) in line with company and international standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
• Review and approve method statements, inspection test plans (ITPs), and material submittals.
• Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to quality procedures and best practices.
• Ensure all works within the assigned discipline comply with approved drawings, specifications, contract requirements, applicable standards and approved method statements through inspection, testing and reporting.

Inspection & Testing

• Conduct regular site inspections of civil and structural works including:
  • Earthworks and foundations
  • Reinforced concrete works
  • Formwork
  • Structural steel works
  • Finishing works
  • Landscaping works
• Verify workmanship, material quality, and compliance with specifications.
• Coordinate laboratory and field testing (e.g., concrete cube tests, soil compaction tests).
• Witness inspections and testing as required by project specifications.

Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare and maintain quality records including:
  • Inspection reports
  • Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
  • Corrective and Preventive Action Reports (CAPA)
• Ensure all inspection and test records are properly documented and filed.
• Track and close out NCRs in coordination with site teams.
• Prepare periodic quality reports for management review.
• Control and accumulate executive documentation for all sections under supervision.
• Support verification of completed works and installed quantities from a quality and compliance perspective.
• Maintain records of inspected work sections and material usage where required for quality traceability.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

10 years’ total engineering experience; at least 7 years of relevant structural engineering experience; substantial experience in reinforced-concrete residential buildings;experience with multi-storey residential buildings;demonstrated experience with foundations, engineered fill, retaining structures and reinforced-concrete frames;experience in construction-stage structural inspection and certification;experience with Kenyan construction regulations and statutory approval procedures;experience dealing with County Government, NCA and other relevant authorities;experience in phased / partial completion and occupation of developments is strongly preferred.

Experience with developments of comparable scale and complexity to Porini Point will be considered a significant advantage.
