The Role
Plan International Kenya seeks to recruit a Climate and Economic Empowerment Lead. The role will be responsible for leading the development, implementation, and monitoring of climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies, as well as economic empowerment programs. This includes ensuring integration of climate resilience and economic empowerment across all program areas, fostering partnerships with government, private sector, and civil society organizations, and contributing to policy advocacy.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of climate change adaptation and mitigation programs.
- Develop and oversee economic empowerment initiatives, focusing on youth and women.
- Ensure climate resilience and economic empowerment are integrated into all program strategies and activities.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with relevant stakeholders.
- Contribute to policy analysis and advocacy on climate change and economic development issues.
- Monitor and evaluate program performance, ensuring accountability and learning.
- Manage budgets and resources effectively for assigned programs.
- Represent Plan International Kenya in relevant forums and networks.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Economics, Development Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in climate change adaptation/mitigation and economic empowerment programs, preferably within the NGO sector.
- Proven experience in program design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Strong understanding of climate change issues, sustainable development, and inclusive economic growth.
- Demonstrated experience in partnership building and stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and report writing skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools for program management and data analysis.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
