Responsibilities or duties
Clinical Assessment & Patient Care: Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, prepare patients for procedures, identify those needing urgent review, and ensure dignity, privacy, and comfort throughout care.
Procedural Nursing Support: Prepare procedure rooms, assist during clinical and surgical procedures, verify patient and procedure details, maintain aseptic technique, and monitor patients before and after interventions.
Laser Safety Management: Perform daily laser safety checks, verify settings and patients, provide eye protection, monitor for complications, and maintain safety documentation.
Infection Prevention & Sterile Technique: Adhere to infection prevention policies, maintain aseptic practice, prepare procedure rooms, handle sterile equipment safely, and ensure environmental cleanliness.
Plastic Surgery & Wound Care: Assess and manage wounds, assist with minor surgical procedures, monitor healing, educate patients on wound and scar care, identify complications, and maintain wound care supplies.
Patient Education & Care Coordination: Educate patients on procedures, risks, expected outcomes, and aftercare, reinforce clinician instructions, coordinate follow-up care, and address post-procedure concerns.
Medication Management: Prepare and administer medications safely, manage local anesthetics and emergency drugs, monitor adverse reactions, and maintain medication accountability.
Equipment & Resource Management: Conduct routine equipment checks, report faults, monitor stock levels, and ensure clinical readiness.
Emergency Preparedness: Respond to medical emergencies, assist in managing common unit emergencies, maintain emergency equipment, and participate in resuscitation and mock drills.
Quality Improvement & Regulatory Compliance: Monitor quality indicators, participate in audits and improvement initiatives, report incidents, and ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
Patient Experience: Provide compassionate, respectful, culturally sensitive, confidential, and professional patient care while addressing concerns promptly.
Professional Development: Maintain licensure and competencies, complete mandatory training, pursue continuing education, and support orientation and mentoring of new staff.
Other Responsibilities: Prepare required reports and perform other lawful duties as assigned
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Professional Education/ Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN) from a recognized institution.
Certification or formal training in Dermatology, Plastic Surgery or Aesthetic Nursing is desirable.
Wound Care certification
Valid Nursing Council of Kenya practicing license.
Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
Laser Safety Certification is desirable.
Relevant Experience
Minimum three (3) years' clinical nursing experience.
At least one (1) year in dermatology, plastic surgery, theatre, cosmetic practice or related specialty is preferred.
Knowledge of laser safety principles.
Strong wound assessment and wound care skills
