About the Role
City Eye Hospital is seeking a dedicated Clinical Officer to join our team and focus on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) with a specialization in pre-surgical optimization. This role is crucial in ensuring patients are in the best possible health before undergoing surgical procedures, particularly those with chronic conditions.
Responsibilities
The Clinical Officer will be responsible for:
- Assessing and managing patients with NCDs, including diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, and respiratory conditions.
- Conducting comprehensive pre-surgical evaluations to identify and mitigate risks associated with chronic conditions.
- Developing and implementing individualized patient care plans to optimize their health status prior to surgery.
- Collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
- Monitoring patient progress and adjusting treatment plans as needed.
- Providing patient education on disease management, medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Participating in hospital quality improvement initiatives related to NCD and surgical care.
Qualifications and Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in Clinical Medicine or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Valid registration and a current practicing license from the Clinical Officers Council.
- Proven experience in managing Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).
- Experience in pre-surgical patient assessment and optimization is highly desirable.
- Strong clinical skills and knowledge of current medical practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient counseling skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
Experience
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in clinical practice, with a focus on NCD management. Experience in a surgical setting or pre-operative care will be an added advantage.
