Responsibilities or duties

The Principal will provide strategic academic and institutional leadership across MedPrime Training College, ensuring high-quality, compliant, student-centred and market-relevant training across all campuses. The role will oversee curriculum implementation, trainer performance, student academic success, examinations, accreditation compliance, practical/clinical training and continuous academic quality improvement.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Health Sciences, Medical/Healthcare-related field or another relevant discipline from a recognized institution. Relevant professional qualifications and a recognized teaching/training qualification where applicable. Demonstrable understanding of TVET and competency-based education and training (CBET).

Experience needed

Minimum 2-3 years’ relevant experience in academic/training management. Proven experience supervising trainers/lecturers and managing academic teams. Experience in examinations, assessment, curriculum implementation and review. Experience dealing with accreditation and regulatory requirements. Experience in healthcare education or TVET is strongly preferred. Multicampus academic management experience is an added advantage.

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight of academic programmes across all campuses.
• Ensure effective implementation and coverage of approved curricula and maintain high standards of teaching and learning.
• Oversee academic timetabling, trainer allocation, teaching resources and curriculum delivery.
• Monitor trainer performance, attendance, lesson preparation, workload and professional conduct, and coordinate coaching and development.
• Oversee competency-based training requirements, including Portfolio of Evidence (PoE), assessment evidence and learner progression.
• Coordinate examinations and assessments, including examination calendars, internal assessments, marking, moderation, results and examination records.
• Ensure compliance with applicable TVETA, CDACC, KNEC, NITA, CBET and relevant professional/regulatory bodies and maintain continuous inspection readiness.
• Monitor student academic performance, attendance, progression, retention and completion, and implement appropriate academic interventions.
• Oversee practical, clinical and industrial attachment programmes, including student placement, supervision, documentation and industry partnerships.
• Conduct academic audits, classroom observations and performance reviews and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Ensure consistency of academic standards, processes and curriculum delivery across all MedPrime campuses.
• Participate in recruitment, onboarding, performance management and development of academic staff and future academic leaders.
• Develop and maintain academic SOPs and ensure accountability throughout academic processes.
• Provide leadership in student discipline, welfare and resolution of academic concerns.
• Maintain effective relationships with regulators, examination bodies, professional councils, healthcare facilities, industry partners, students and other stakeholders.
• Prepare and submit timely academic performance, compliance, examination, student and campus reports to senior management.
• Use academic data and performance indicators to identify problems, develop solutions and drive continuous improvement.
