CARE Kenya seeks to engage an experienced Communications consultant who will strengthen visibility, craft impactful messaging, and support donor engagement through high-quality materials, events, and strategic partnerships. This consultancy will ensure that CARE Kenya’s voice is consistent, professional, and aligned with its programmatic pillars and cross-cutting ambitions, ultimately driving resource mobilization and long-term sustainability.
Scope of Work
The consultant will be responsible for:
- Strategy Development: Draft and implement a comprehensive communications and visibility strategy.
- Content Creation: Produce high-quality materials (press releases, newsletters, reports, social media content, website and YouTube content, success stories).
- Media Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with media houses, journalists, and influencers.
- Digital Presence: Manage and optimize social media platforms and website content.
- Capacity Building: Train staff on effective communication, branding, and media engagement.
- Event Support: Provide communications support for workshops, conferences, and campaigns.
- Monitoring & Evaluation: Track communication outputs and outcomes, providing regular reports.
Deliverables
- Communications and visibility strategy document.
- Monthly content calendar and social media analytics reports.
- Press releases, newsletters, and success stories.
- Media coverage reports.
- Training sessions and capacity-building materials.
- Final reports summarizing achievements, lessons learned, and recommendations (internal and external reports)
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in communications, preferably in NGOs or development sector.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Experience with digital media management and analytics.
- Proven ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including government, donors, and communities.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
