Key Responsibilities
Library Management & Operations
- Organize, classify, catalog, and maintain library resources (books, journals, digital materials)
- Develop and implement library policies and procedures
- Manage circulation systems and ensure efficient access to materials
- Maintain a conducive, safe, and user-friendly library environment
- Oversee use and security of e-readers and digital resources
- Update digital catalog
Community Engagement & Literacy Promotion
- Promote a reading culture among students, youth, and community members
- Organize book clubs, storytelling sessions, and literacy programs
- Facilitate library outreach activities in schools and the community
- Inform users of new acquisitions and relevant learning resources
Digital & Information Services
- Support access to digital resources and databases
- Provide guidance on information search and research skills
- Train users on the use of computers, e-readers, and digital tools
Programming & Partnerships
- Develop and implement library programs aligned with community needs
- Work closely with teachers, youth groups, and community leaders and fellow librarians
- Support proposal writing and resource mobilization for library expansion
Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate library records and usage statistics
- Contribute to library planning and budgeting
- Prepare periodic reports on library performance and activities
