Job Summary

The Community Oral Health Officer will provide comprehensive preventive, restorative, and emergency oral healthcare services while promoting oral health education and supporting the delivery of quality dental care in accordance with established clinical standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform emergency and routine dental procedures, including:
  • Operative dentistry
  • Endodontics
  • Periodontics
  • Paedodontics
  • Prosthodontics
  • Minor oral surgery
  • Inpatient dental reviews
• Counsel and educate patients on oral hygiene practices and preventive dental care, including demonstrating appropriate oral health techniques.
• Liaise with dental consultants in the management of complex cases to ensure quality patient care.
• Review and develop policies and procedures for patient care to support current best practices in dental services.
• Participate in and contribute to Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities within the hospital.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants must possess:

• A Diploma in Community Oral Health from the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).
• Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
• Competency in radiological imaging and interpretation.
• A valid Practising Licence.
• Professional Indemnity Insurance Cover.
• Evidence of successful completion of a one-year internship from a recognized institution.
• A minimum of two (2) years' working experience in a reputable hospital will be an added advantage.

Level of Education: associate degree
