Grevy's Zebra Trust (GZT) is a Kenyan conservation organisation dedicated to conserving the endangered Grevy's zebra and its habitat in northern Kenya. Rooted in community partnership and evidence-based conservation, GZT works across diverse landscapes and land tenure systems to secure connectivity for wildlife. We are seeking a Connected Landscapes Manager to lead GZT's strategic response to the southward range shift of Grevy's zebra populations into Laikipia County. Reporting to the Programs Director, this role is ideal for a dynamic professional who can navigate complex multi-stakeholder environments, develop innovative connectivity solutions, and balance wildlife conservation with community needs. This is a three-year, Nanyuki-based position with regular travel across northern Kenya.

Key Responsibilities:

• Partnership Development: Build and strengthen cross-sectoral partnerships with conservation NGOs, research institutions, county governments, infrastructure authorities (KeNHA, KeRRA, LAPSSET), Laikipia ranches, conservancies and the Laikipia Conservancies Association, coordinating closely with the Wyss Academy for Nature.
• Knowledge Systems & Data Management: Develop and maintain a shared database for Grevy's zebra data across Laikipia, coordinate GPS collaring and movement tracking, and map barriers to wildlife movement across Laikipia, Samburu, Isiolo and Marsabit.
• Connectivity & Pasture Interventions: Support community rangelands governance and restoration, design negotiated connectivity solutions across private and community lands, develop wildlife-friendly fencing, and engage road authorities on highway permeability.
• Policy Influence & Planning: Engage in County Integrated Development Plan processes and county spatial planning to secure corridor protection, and develop policy briefs for land-use planning.
• Project Management & Reporting: Manage project budgets and work plans, prepare quarterly progress reports, and coordinate with GZT's Research and Impact Team.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Education: Master's degree in Conservation Biology, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Geography, or a related field; a Bachelor's degree with significant relevant experience may be considered.
• Experience: Minimum 8 years' experience in landscape-level conservation or natural resource management, including multi-stakeholder engagement, wildlife corridor design, and working across private, community and government land tenure systems.
• Technical Skills: Strong GIS and spatial analysis capabilities, data management and integration skills, and experience with monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
• Knowledge: Understanding of wildlife movement ecology, connectivity science, rangeland management, and infrastructure development and mitigation processes.
• Other: Valid Kenyan driving license required; willingness to travel extensively and work flexible hours, including occasional weekends, for community engagements.
• Fluent in spoken and written Maa.
