Responsibilities or duties
The jobholder’s role is to provide specialized Neurosurgical inpatient services by conducting assessments, diagnostic evaluations and administering treatment in line with hospital policies and prevailing regulations
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Bachelor in Medicine and Surgery (MBChB.) degree or its equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council; Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council - KMPDC). Valid practicing license from Kenya Medical Practitioners

- Evaluation of patients and devising plans of management and orders: surgery, admission, outpatient follow-up
- Evaluation of patients in consultation to other medical or surgical services with Consultant oversight
- Performing surgical procedures both routine and complicated.
- Preparing Mononeuritis multiplex (MNM) reports with interpretation
- Assisting in major procedures in other disciplines as may be called upon.
- Supervising Medical Students, Medical Officer Interns and Clinical Officer Interns
- Assuming all clinical/ surgical responsibilities while on night call shifts and supervision of interns with Consultant oversight
- Communication between Hospital Departments regarding scheduling of services
- Provide effective supervision and guidance to clinical officers and interns involved in Neurosurgical patient care, fostering a supportive learning environment.
- Collaborate closely with medical colleagues, working under their supervision to execute delegated responsibilities and contribute to the overall care plan for patients.
- Perform any other duties assigned from time to time
- Bachelor in Medicine and Surgery (MBChB.) degree or its equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council;
- Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council - KMPDC).
