Our client, a premium Resort in Diani is seeking an experienced Cost Controller to safeguard financial integrity and profitability through rigorous cost management, inventory governance, and financial discipline across all operational departments.

The role ensures costs are optimized without compromising 5-star service standards, product quality, or guest experience, while delivering accurate, timely, and audit-ready financial reporting to management and ownership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain robust cost control systems, preparing and analyzing daily, weekly, and monthly cost reports across all revenue and support departments.
  • Monitor departmental performance against approved budgets, forecasts, and benchmarks, investigating and formally reporting all material variances and irregularities with corrective recommendations.
  • Oversee end-to-end inventory control for all consumables and high-value items across F&B, retail, housekeeping, engineering stores, spa, and operational supplies.
  • Enforce strict inventory governance including FIFO, shelf-life management, par levels, quality standards, and zero tolerance for undocumented expired, damaged, or obsolete stock.
  • Ensure full compliance with systems, controls, and statutory requirements by reviewing requisitions, transfers, adjustments, supplier invoices, and POS–inventory integrations.
  • Support operational teams with menu, recipe, and product costing, staff meal controls, and investigations into wastage, shrinkage, losses, and revenue leakage.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, audits, and ownership reporting while continuously improving cost control SOPs in line with luxury hospitality best practice.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, or CPA Level 4.
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as a Cost Controller within a 5-star or high-end multi-outlet hotel or resort environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of hospitality inventory management systems and POS platforms.
  • Proven experience operating in audit-driven, ownership-reporting environments with high standards of financial governance.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to partner with operational teams while protecting margins and brand standards.
