Key Responsibilities
Credit Assessment & Underwriting
- Conduct credit analysis and evaluate financial data to assess the creditworthiness of clients.
- Provide risk-aligned inputs to support decision-making.
- Collaborate with account managers, customer care agents, and the sales team to validate borrower information and assess risk in business context.
KYC Documentation
- Document verification to identify and prevent fraud.
- Verify the accuracy and completeness of client-provided information.
- Support the completion of KYC processes for both new and existing clients, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
Portfolio Monitoring
- Monitor the loan portfolio to identify high-risk exposures and support ongoing loan reviews.
- Collaborate with Account Managers to ensure timely completion of periodic portfolio assessments.
Policy, Process & Control
- Contribute to the enhancement of credit and risk policies.
- Help review loan documentation and ensure compliance with internal risk guidelines.
- Any other responsibility that will be assigned from time to time by the line manager.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
Experience: 2–3 years in credit analysis within a Bank, Microfinance (MFI), or Fintech environment; experience in Agri-lending is a plus.
Financial Analysis: Expert ability to analyze financial statements and cash flow cycles to determine debt-service capacity.
Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in MS Excel & Spreadsheets.
Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of CBK Prudential Guidelines and the Data Protection Act.
KYC & Compliance: Eye for detail to perform document verification, identify fraud red flags, and ensure 100% regulatory compliance.
Soft Skills: Excellent communication and negotiation skills to collaborate with other team members on high-risk interventions.
Portfolio Management: Proven track record in monitoring PAR buckets and implementing recovery strategies for under-performing loans and market segments.
