Credit Recovery Officer (Nairobi)

Job purpose:
Reporting to the Credit Manager, Loan Recovery Officer is responsible for managing and recovering outstanding loans from customers while maintaining positive customer relationships and ensuring compliance with the organization’s lending and recovery policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor loan accounts and identify overdue and delinquent accounts.
- Contact customers through phone calls, emails, SMS, and field visits to follow up on outstanding payments.
- Negotiate suitable repayment arrangements with customers experiencing payment difficulties.
- Maintain accurate records of loan recovery activities, customer commitments, and payments received.
- Conduct customer visits and follow up on accounts requiring physical recovery efforts.
- Investigate reasons for loan delinquency and recommend appropriate recovery solutions.
- Prepare regular reports on outstanding loans, recoveries, and collection performance.
- Work closely with the credit Manager, Senior recovery officer and other credit team to resolve loan related issue.
- Ensure all recovery activities comply with company policies, contractual requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Escalate difficult or long-outstanding accounts for further action where necessary.
- Meet assigned monthly recovery and collection targets.
Requirements
- Unquestionable character, integrity and accountability.
- 3 referees, (one by immediate former employer, where applicable)
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance or equivalent.
- At least one (1) year of experience in Credit & debt Management.
- Professional qualification in Credit Management.
- High integrity, honesty and ethical behavior.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Excellent communication and follow-up skills.
- Good knowledge of Sacco Societies Operations and SASRA guidelines and regulations.
- Proficiency in computer systems and Ms office applications.
- Conversant with security perfection process.
- Excellent customer service.
- Accurate analytical skills.
