JOB DETAILS:

Reports to: Senior Database Developer / Database Lead

Station: Nairobi

About the Role

We are seeking to recruit a Database Developer Intern who is fluent in Arabic to join our IT team. The intern will support the development and enhancement of database-driven applications, working closely with developers and business teams to design, implement, and optimize database structures and queries. 

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in designing and developing new database objects (tables, views, functions, stored procedures).
• Write and optimize SQL queries for reporting and application integration.
• Support data migration, data transformation, and cleansing tasks.
• Help integrate databases with internal systems and external applications.
• Participate in building dashboards and reports for business teams.
• Collaborate with team members to gather requirements and translate them into technical database solutions.
• Prepare technical documentation for developed database features.
• Provide translation or communication support in Arabic where necessary

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or related field.
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or Oracle).
• Understanding of relational database concepts (tables, keys, joins, normalization).
• Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills in English and Arabic (required).
• Eagerness to learn and apply new database technologies.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

• Exposure to NoSQL databases (MongoDB, etc.).
• Familiarity with reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
• Knowledge of a programming/scripting language (Python, Java, or C#).
• Understanding of APIs and data integration concepts.
