Job Overview:

The Deputy Director for Grants and Accountability (DDGA) will oversee the grants management and compliance function for IRC Kenya. This role is critical in ensuring the quality and compliance of all grant-funded projects, from proposal development to reporting and close-out. The DDGA will work closely with program and finance teams to ensure adherence to donor regulations, timely reporting, and effective management of grant portfolios.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the grants management team, providing guidance and support.
  • Oversee the development and submission of high-quality grant proposals in collaboration with program and technical teams.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of all donor reports, maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
  • Monitor grant performance, identify risks and challenges, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for donors on grants-related matters.
  • Provide training and capacity building to staff on grants management, donor compliance, and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure effective grant close-out processes are followed.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of IRC Kenya’s strategic objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in International Development, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in grants management, proposal development, and donor reporting, preferably within the humanitarian or development sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of major donor regulations (e.g., USAID, ECHO, DFID, UN agencies).
  • Proven experience in managing complex grant portfolios and leading teams.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Fluency in English is required.

Experience:

Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in grants management, proposal development, and donor reporting, preferably within the humanitarian or development sector.
