Job Purpose

Reporting to the Manager Statistics Compilation, the job holder will be responsible for timely compilation and dissemination of data and publications, including the Bank Annual Report

This will include ensuring accurate and timely dissemination of data on the CBK website, sharing of requisite data to the National Treasury, KNBS, uploading of data on IMF portal, as well as timely reporting to the IMF on all data requirements and other regional bodies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Responsibilities

1. Responsible for the Data Release Calendar and custodian for the Data Revision guidelines.

2. Contact person on data dissemination to the IMF and other international/regional bodies.

3. System Administrator for the IMF enhanced General Data Dissemination System (E-GDDS) and the Statistical Data and Metadata Exchange (SDMX).

4. Lead person on the compilation of Bank’s publications -Statistical Bulletin, Monthly Economic Indicators and Website Time Series data.

5. Coordinate the interagency collaboration on requisite surveys and take responsibility on Banks’ financial obligation.

Technical and Operational Responsibilities

6. Head of publications and dissemination.

7. Oversee timely production and dissemination of Statistical Bulletin, Monthly Economic Indicators and Website Time Series data on trade statistics, balance of payment statistics, government finance statistics, national accounts statistics and remittances sections.

8. Ensure data consistency in various publications; namely, CBK Annual Report, Biannual Statistical Bulletin, Quarterly Economic Review, Monthly Economic Indicators, Weekly Bulletin and Website macroeconomic statistics.

9. Coordinate with data stewards on data storage and access.

10. Ensure implementation of the Data Revision guidelines and Data Release Calendar

11. Coordinates collaboration with external agencies such as the National Treasury, KNBS, KRA and other relevant agencies in data sharing, surveys and any other statistical information.

12. Coordinate timely preparation of the Division’s annual budget

13. Ensure preparation and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Risk management matrix and Business Continuity Plans (BCP) for the Division.

14. As head of dissemination, be the liaison person for queries on Statistical matters and collaboration.

Other Responsibilities

15. Mentor, coach and mobilize teams to achieve Division’s objectives

16. Support capacity building initiatives at the Divisional level

17. Lead the team on external collaboration and networking with other institutions

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics and or Economics.

2. Master's Degree in Statistics, Economics, Finance, Banking.

Work Experience

1. At least five (5) years’ experience in statistical compilation and collaboration.

2. Trained on balance of payments and international investment position, national accounts, Monetary and financial statistics and government finance statistics by IMF/MEFMI.

Competencies

1. Good understanding of internationally accepted best practices for compilation of macroeconomic statistics.

2. Strong background on data management and analytical skills

3. Good knowledge and experience of data management computer packages i.e. Ms Excel and visualisation packages.

4. Good understanding on the data needs by users for effective policy formulation

5. Good understanding on the regional and international data requirements

6. Good understanding on the surveys techniques

7. Strong communication and presentation skills

8. Strong project management skills and practices

1. A team player, possessing excellent communication, analytical, planning, organization and interpersonal skill
