Job Purpose

The Development & Innovation Officer drives automation initiatives and process improvements within the IT department to enhance manufacturing efficiency and innovation. This role focuses on developing custom solutions, automating workflows, and implementing innovative technologies to streamline operations in a manufacturing setup.

Job Description

  • Identify opportunities for automation in manufacturing processes, such as production lines, supply chain, and quality assurance.
  • Design, develop, and implement software tools and scripts for process automation and improvement.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze current processes and recommend innovative solutions to reduce costs and increase productivity.
  • Lead projects on emerging technologies like AI, IoT, or robotics integration in manufacturing environments.
  • Test and deploy custom applications or integrations to optimize operational workflows.
  • Monitor the impact of implemented innovations and refine them based on performance data.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by conducting workshops and promoting best practices.
  • Stay updated on industry trends in automation and apply them to manufacturing challenges.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 4-6 years of experience in IT development and innovation, ideally in manufacturing or industrial automation.

Key Competencies

  • Expertise in programming languages (e.g., Python, Java) and automation tools (e.g., RPA software).
  • Strong background in process improvement methodologies like Lean, Six Sigma, or Agile.
  • Experience with manufacturing automation systems, including PLC programming or SCADA.
  • Certifications in project management (PMP) or innovation (e.g., Certified Innovation Professional).
  • Creative problem-solving skills with a focus on practical, scalable solutions.
  • Excellent leadership and communication abilities to drive cross-functional innovation initiatives
