DIRECTOR, CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS
The Director will be responsible for the overall coordination and management of the Corporate Communications function.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the development, implementation and review of policies, standards, strategies, regulations, guidelines, procedures, frameworks, protocols and plans relating to corporate communications.
- Facilitate the Commission’s media events and publicity programmes.
- Facilitate the accreditation of media practitioners for the coverage of electoral activities.
- Oversee the development, dissemination and review of communication materials and content for internal and external stakeholders.
- Spearhead the formulation, implementation and review of mechanisms for promoting the Commission’s media relations.
- Ensure the availability of timely, accurate and accessible information on electoral processes.
- Spearhead the development, implementation and review of the crisis communication framework.
- Oversee the management of official digital platforms to ensure real-time updates.
- Ensure clear, consistent and timely communication within the Commission.
- Oversee the planning and execution of public awareness campaigns and customer experience initiatives relating to electoral processes.
- Oversee the monitoring of media coverage and public opinion to support informed decision-making.
- Spearhead the preparation of media intelligence reports and briefs on matters affecting the Commission.
- Promote the design, implementation and review of strategies for enhancing customer relations within the Commission.
- Oversee the design, implementation and review of guidelines and protocols for the Commission’s internal and external communications.
- Ensure the coverage of Commission activities through photography and videography.
- Review and submit speeches, press releases, media advisories, official statements, talking points and briefing notes to the Commission Secretary/Chief Executive Officer for further action.
- Spearhead the provision of technical advice on matters relating to corporate communications within the Commission.
- Spearhead the design, implementation and review of adaptive Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes.
- Prepare progress reports for the Directorate.
- Prepare plans and budgets for the Directorate.
- Ensure the prudent utilisation of the Directorate’s resources.
- Build staff capacity, set performance targets and manage the performance of the Directorate.
- Perform any other duty that may be assigned from time to time.
REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Public Relations, Corporate Communications, Sales and Marketing, Governance, Peace and Conflict Resolution, Mass Communication, Journalism, International Relations and Diplomacy, Media Studies, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
- Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Public Relations, Corporate Communications, Mass Communication, Journalism, Governance, Peace and Conflict Resolution, International Relations and Diplomacy, Media Studies, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
- Membership in a relevant professional body and be in good standing.
- At least fifteen (15) years’ cumulative experience, three (3) of which must have been at senior management level.
- Meet the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.
- Certificate in Computer Applications.
- A leadership and management course lasting not less than two (2) weeks.
- Demonstrated a high degree of professional competence and administrative capability required for the effective coordination and execution of the Corporate Communications function.
