The Director will handle strategic leadership, effective and efficient management of both industry and Secretariat legal, compliance and company secretarial, human resources, policy advocacy and stakeholder engagements, including the banking sector’s industrial relations with the union.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategy and lead policy advocacy and engagement with Regulators, Parliament, Government ministries, agencies, and other partners.
  • Provide leadership to the industry in matters legal, litigation, compliance, and mediation.
  • Lead the development and execution of industry’s HR strategies, including talent management, performance, staff welfare, and organisational culture.
  • Coordinate sector-wide industrial relations, including union negotiations, salary surveys, and engagement with the banking union.
  • Company Secretary, manage governance structures, statutory meetings, compliance, and governing council advisory functions.
  • Coordinate legal and HR capacity-building programs across member banks and represent industry interests in key forums.
  • Supervise a multidisciplinary team and oversee directorate’s budgets, procurement, and administrative operations.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Relevant legal, human capital and policy advocacy experience in a leading organization.
  • Multi-functional experience in a business membership organization is an added advantage.
  • Holder of Bachelor’s degree in Law with added qualifications in Human Resources.
  • Professional membership with Law Society of Kenya (LSK) and Institute of Human Resources Management (IHRM).
  • Advocacy and stakeholder engagements; provision of legal counsel and human capital management.
  • Knowledge of banking, industry priorities and stakeholders.
  • Strong network with advocacy partners, banking sector players and policy makers.
  • Leadership to staff for high performance and productivity.
  • Company secretarial capability, problem solving, communication and influencing.
