Looking for a driver job in Kenya? Lions SightFirst Eye Hospital is hiring a Driver to provide safe transportation services, maintain vehicle record and support hospital operations. The role is based in Nairobi and familiarity with operating hospital vehicles is required.

Responsibilities or duties

Assist in outreach programmes.

Operate the assigned vehicle in a courteous manner.

Have defensive driving training.

Present a safety briefing to patients before each trip departure.

Keep assigned vehicle(s) clean inside and outside.

Maintain accurate trip sheets, transport forms, vehicle maintenance, fuel purchase, incident, accident, and vehicle condition records.

Perform minor maintenance tasks on assigned vehicle(s) as required.

Fuel the assigned vehicle(s).

Coordinate major and periodic vehicle maintenance with management and staff.

Check tires, brakes, wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy.

Comply with traffic regulations and hospital safety procedures.

Pick up and drop off staff at scheduled locations while keeping strict time schedules.

Maintain knowledge of first-aid procedures.

Maintain order among patients during outreach trips to ensure safety.

Prepare and submit reports on trips, mileage, fuel consumption, hours worked, and fares received.

Be licensed to drive a bus; attach license.

Be a proactive driver.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Valid driver’s License for cars, PSV and buses.

Proven 5 years of experience as a driver, especially in professional settings.

Familiarity with operating hospital vehicles such as transport vans.

Knowledge of local roads, traffic laws, and regulations.

Safe and defensive driving skills certificate

Basic mechanical knowledge to handle minor vehicle repairs.

Effective communication skills to interact with patients, staff, or clients.

Ability to handle stressful or emergency situations calmly and professionally

Free from substance abuse or conditions that may impair driving.

Clean driving record.

Flexibility for shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays
