JOB DETAILS:
Job Summary Lwala Community Alliance is seeking to recruit a dedicated and skilled Driver to support program activities in Nyamira County.The successful candidate will be responsible for driving assigned organizational vehicles to ensure the safe and efficient transport of staff, materials, and equipment in support of field operations. The role requires a high level of professionalism, flexibility, and adherence to road safety and organizational transport policies. The Driver will also be required to support other program transport needs and may be reassigned to different vehicles as necessary to ensure smooth implementation of activities. Roles and Responsibilities Work requirements and tasks will be guided by the following Key Result Areas (KRAs): Vehicle Management and Control ● Ensure compliance with LCA policies and regulations related to vehicle operation and maintenance. ● Safely operate the assigned program vehicle, prioritizing safety, professionalism, and adherence to traffic laws. ● Handle the transport of goods and passengers carefully, ensuring timely delivery. ● Ensure the security of the vehicle during trips and while parked. ● Uphold order and discipline among passengers and ensure compliance with organizational rules. Vehicle Maintenance ● Conduct daily vehicle checks to confirm the ambulance or program vehicle is in good working condition (including oil, water, brakes, tires, etc.). ● Perform minor repairs and report mechanical defects promptly. ● Coordinate necessary repairs and regular maintenance checks for the vehicle. ● Keep the vehicle clean and well-maintained, both inside and out. ● Maintain essential equipment like a toolkit, spare tire, first aid kit, and fire extinguisher Documentation and Record Keeping ● Maintain accurate records of trips, including mileage, fuel usage, oil changes, and any maintenance performed. ● Document incidents, accidents, and vehicle condition reports, preparing any required reports for management. Safety and Security ● Ensure passenger safety during transportation and follow all safety protocols. ● Verify the vehicle’s statutory requirements, including insurance, first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and inspection certificates. ● Educate passengers on safety guidelines and ensure compliance. General Responsibilities ● Provide delivery and messenger services as needed. ● Coordinate community outreach and referrals with the Clinician on duty. ● Assist with clerical duties and inventory management. ● Uphold a positive image of Lwala Community Alliance in interactions with stakeholders and visitors. Other Duties and Responsibilities ● Perform any other duties as may be directed by management from time to time. Qualifications and Experience Qualifications ● Minimum KCPE qualification. ● Valid driving license (Classes A2, B2, C1 – new classification). ● AA Driving Certification of Competency (preferred). ● Certificate of Good Conduct (issued within the last 12 months). ● Government Trade Test Grade III in Mechanics (added advantage). ● National Youth Service (NYS) training (added advantage). Experience ● Minimum of 4 years’ relevant driving experience. ● First Aid training is an added advantage. Competencies ● Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. ● Proficiency in English and Kiswahili. ● Strong organizational skills and ability to follow instructions. ● Good knowledge of road transport rules and regulations. ● Ability to interpret road signs in English. ● Basic mechanical skills, including the ability to perform minor vehicle repairs.
