Overview

The Driver shall be responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient transportation and delivery of agrovet products to customers, branches, and other designated locations. The role requires ensuring proper handling of products, maintaining accurate delivery records, safeguarding company assets, and ensuring the assigned vehicle remains clean, roadworthy, and compliant with all traffic regulations.

Job description

  • Safely operate the assigned company vehicle in compliance with traffic laws and company policies.
  • Deliver agrovet products to customers accurately and within the scheduled timelines.
  • Load, transport, and offload goods carefully to prevent damage or loss during transit.
  • Verify delivery quantities against delivery notes and obtain customer acknowledgements upon delivery.
  • Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any mechanical faults or safety concerns promptly.
  • Ensure the assigned vehicle is clean, fueled, serviced, and maintained in good working condition.
  • Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage, fuel consumption, deliveries, and vehicle maintenance.
  • Support stock loading and unloading activities where necessary while ensuring proper handling of products.
  • Ensure the security of products, company property, and any documents entrusted during transportation.
  • Report road incidents, accidents, delays, or customer concerns promptly to the supervisor.
  • Assist in collecting signed delivery notes and any authorized customer payments or documents where applicable, ensuring proper accountability.
  • Plan efficient travel routes to optimize fuel usage and ensure timely deliveries.
  • Maintain professional and courteous relationships with customers and represent the company positively at all times.
  • Comply with occupational health and safety requirements while handling products and operating the vehicle.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by management from time to time.

Requirements

  • Minimum KCSE Certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • Valid Kenyan Driving License Class BCE (or the appropriate class for the assigned vehicle).
  • Minimum of 3 years' driving experience, preferably in distribution, FMCG, agrovet, or agricultural supplies.
  • Clean driving record with good knowledge of Kenyan traffic laws and road safety regulations.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and the ability to identify and report mechanical issues.
  • Valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Physically fit and able to assist with loading and offloading products when required.
  • Honest, responsible, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Good knowledge of Narok County and surrounding regions will be an added advantage.
